0:43Alexis Texas You are very welcome. I'm excited to have a convo with you. I've heard all about you, but I wanted to know the personal, the private talk that needs to be on this couch. And we're doing a first episode here at the W Lounge. I'm excited to have you as my first guest.

0:57Alexis Texas So we wanna know all about the juicy details about business, the branding, the late night DMs, and the real woman behind the camera. So let's get into it. Did you start becoming this big entrepreneur that you are today?

1:11Amouranth Well, I used to do more cosplay stuff like at conventions. So I think it's about 2016 that Twitch actually had this section called creative section. And they were trying to get cosplayers or artists to come join that. And you got to fast track your way to partner. So before that, it was gaming only and you could...

1:29Amouranth You had to have 500 concurrent viewers Okay. To become a partner on Twitch. But with creative, you only had to have a 100. And since I already had Instagram and a Facebook following for Cosplay, I was like, well, that seems pretty easy to do. And so I joined and I think within like six months, I was partnering on there and then...

1:45Amouranth So it gonna have since.

1:47Alexis Texas And that kind of stuff, is that something that you just always gravitated that you like dressing up and you like had these certain characters that you wanted? Like, did someone kinda guide you into those kind of things or is it something that you just off the bat just knew that you're into it and you're like, let's make a business of it. Some people just do it for Some people do it for hobbies, some people whatever. And I think like what I think is fascinating about you is how much in your lane that you just took control, especially there's a lot of men in this industry where it's like having a woman kind of pioneer and because things is really fascinating. So I'd like you to get a little insight of how that kind of happened.

2:18Amouranth Well, I got into cosplay when I was in high school. So I was just going to conventions with friends. And then I saw like a lot of girls on Instagram, think at the time, like Jessica McGree and other big names were like making waves, doing cosplay stuff. And I was like, well, might as well create my own Instagram and see where it goes from there. And so once I started streaming, I I made costumes while I played games.

2:39Amouranth So I'd like a tracer cosplay and I would play Overwatch in it. And that's kinda like my content at first. And then over time, they introduced like the IRL categories. And I kinda just went into a variety streamer instead of just creative. So you kind

2:51Alexis Texas of broke the envelope with that. You kind of found loopholes of kind of being in your own niche. Like, were you kind of nervous maybe at first to test the waters and maybe think that you'd be banned? Because now, you know, there's there's certain things that you can do from these platforms that you get banned and you have such hard work that you put behind from your viewers and stuff where being wiped out could be really critical for someone

3:10Amouranth to be Yeah. Definitely got to be more of a concern, like the bigger that I got because, know, at first it's just fun. It's like a hobby. You're not really making that much money from it. But as it becomes your career, definitely, you take a lot more serious and try to be more cautious for sure.

3:24Alexis Texas So, what were you doing before Cosplay? Say, like, this obviously is something that she probably didn't know that it'd be coming blossom into this huge business and success that it's been. But what were you doing? Did you have, like, your regular jobs? Like, what was Amareth before Amarith became this big mega woman that you are?

3:40Amouranth Well, I actually had my own business for character parties. So, we do like... You've always been

3:44Alexis Texas in this character like role playing type of situation.

3:48Amouranth Yeah, exactly. So, we do superheroes or princesses and do like Make A Wish Foundation visits at the hospital. So, a little bit of like... A profit and then... Yeah.

3:57Amouranth Mhmm.

3:57Alexis Texas Is there a particular costume or something that role that you like to play more than others so that you've done more frequently?

4:04Amouranth I think Ariel has been always my favorite.

4:07Alexis Texas Is it just because of the hair?

4:08Amouranth Well, I it's the fin. I like to swim. And so it's fun because the kids are just like, oh my gosh, a mermaid. Then you get paid, you know. And I was able to cosplay that at confessions too for a while.

4:18Alexis Texas So what would you give advice to some streamers out there now developing, you know, their careers and stuff about building their empire?

4:26Amouranth Oh, it's tough now. It's so saturated. I'm sure you know that too. And the algorithms are much less forgiving to females, you know? So I think right now, if I were gonna start today, I think the move would be TikTok and then post the same content if you can, on Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

4:46Amouranth Just, like, do all three at once and grow from there because now with Twitch and and... I'm on kick right now, but it's kinda the same thing. Like, the live streaming platforms, they don't have any discovery and they're so saturated that no one will ever find you unless you build up

5:00Alexis Texas a brand somewhere else first. Okay. So basically, because of the saturated market, it's more like working and building your brand before you even kind of tap into those Twitch and Kick type of

5:09Amouranth Yes.

5:09Alexis Texas Scenarios. How did you kind of bust down the doors to like get where your growth of the community is?

5:15Amouranth I think back when, I started, you know, 2016, Twitch wasn't nearly as saturated as it is now. So my method was just always being online. And if everyone else logs off, I'm your only option if you wanted a girl creator because it wasn't as many as there is now. So that actually really helped me out is the fact that it is a male dominated space.

5:34Alexis Texas Okay. So you kind of just like, I'm here.

5:36Amouranth I'm not going anywhere and Mhmm.

5:38Alexis Texas Take me as it is. Turn me off. I'm still gonna be here. Yeah. How hard is that to kind of like dedicate your kind of like whole life to stream?

5:46Alexis Texas Do you feel... First, in the beginning, did you feel kind of nervous that people would be receptive to what you're doing? Or did you just kind of not care and was, we're just gonna figure it out? I didn't really care

5:56Amouranth because for the most part, I kinda did what I would do anyway if I wasn't streaming. I'd be like making costumes or playing games or painting or whatever it was. So it's like, if I can do that with the camera on and someone's gonna pay me to do it, sounds good to me. So pushing boundaries,

6:10Alexis Texas you like to do that?

6:12Amouranth Yeah. I did like to do that, especially during the hot tub meta. Think that was a huge year of growth.

6:17Alexis Texas So let's talk about that. That's kind of like what your biggest pushback was and kind of like making you this big splash, no pun intended of like how you know, major mark on what was the loophole of what we spoke of earlier, how you could get away with displaying your assets about what they are. Yes. Exactly. So how did that whole like idea come about?

6:36Alexis Texas How did you even figure out the loophole thing? And, like, again, we talked about nervousness a little bit about the perspective and the career part, but how did that whole, like, thing happen?

6:47Amouranth Well, I think part of it was luck because COVID, I think everyone kind of grew who was an influencer at the time. But I started doing pool streams outside, I think the year before COVID. And I think it was 2020. I saw some girls do hot tub streams, you know, specifically not just the pool, much more like intimate setting. And I thought, well, that would be a good idea.

7:12Amouranth But the problem is, you know, they were in Cali with this nice weather, Texas, you know, humidity and mosquitoes and cicadas so loud. So I decided I'm going to bring the hot tub.

7:21Alexis Texas Where the are you?

7:22Amouranth They're in this nice, nice little like outdoor set and like, I'm going bring the hot tub inside. And that's kind of what started the wave of girls bringing their hot tub indoors. So you can control the lighting, you have AC, you can even have the

7:33Alexis Texas computer Yeah. Right And by

7:36Amouranth so that kind of became the new thing, I guess. And that was great until they decided to make a section just for hot tub without with like, hardly any discovery and basically... Where is my cut? No advertisers. Yeah.

7:50Amouranth So that kinda was the death of the hot tub meta was moving into its own section kinda shadow banned from the rest of the site. They're just always trying

7:57Alexis Texas to, you know, be shady somehow or another. Yeah. Trying to Can't win too much. Don't win too much. So you took this career of yours, and you made into something that's, you know, people look up to.

8:08Alexis Texas And you made into not only that, but a business outside of your creators. Can we talk a little bit more about that? What kind of business endeavors did you kind of go after after making such a lucrative amount of money with being a creator?

8:21Amouranth Well, I don't really have like my own business that I run directly, but I do invest in a lot of businesses. But that's a business.

8:27Alexis Texas Feel like, you know, investments is a big thing that a lot of people don't tap into. Think, like, our financial literacy in The US is not as big as it should be.

8:35Amouranth Yeah. You

8:35Alexis Texas know, there's times everywhere. We're not in Texas anymore, honey, but we're to LA.

8:41Amouranth True. Yeah. Like I started investing in gas stations. They got a lot of press at the time. It was just a good, you know, little investment that kicks back money and is also very advantageous to taxes because you can take the total amount spent on the buildings and take it from your total income for the year.

8:59Amouranth And now you have like a new lower income on paper, then you have less taxes to pay essentially.

9:05Alexis Texas So were you always, like, a business business savvy woman? Or did you have somebody kind of guide you into, like, a business manager? Like, how did you... Because most people, they're making all this money. We're at young ages, whatever, and some people just blow it.

9:17Alexis Texas And I think that that's really cool to see, like, the creators now is, like, invest your money. Maybe you may not know, but, like, thousands of times to know where it's, if we didn't know something, we should research it. We should learn about it. We should find people that are having those jobs specifically to help us. Because I feel like, you know, asking for help sometimes people think like, oh, this ego where it's like, honestly, that's the strongest thing I think some of them do is like, I can't do this.

9:38Alexis Texas So help me do this.

9:39Amouranth Right. I consider myself very lucky because I was not financially savvy at all before I became a streamer, but I actually got married before I became a streamer too. And my husband actually does have some background in finance. Okay. But even his background wasn't nearly as like a complex as we've built our, like, financial investments together now.

10:02Amouranth That was the base of a start. Right?

10:03Alexis Texas It was more direction of, like, what... Just not being educated at all about.

10:07Amouranth Right. Yeah. So we've had a lot of help from accountants and, you know, just, like, friends who in this... In the industry...

10:12Alexis Texas Because when you say go to buy it, like, you own a gas station, that's like... People are like, how

10:15Amouranth do you do that?

10:16Alexis Texas You know what mean? But, like Yeah. I think it's cool to, like, know the ins and outs of, like, what you said. Like, you put this towards this, and this is what you can kinda get.

10:22Amouranth Yeah. It's kind of uncharted space, I guess, having all this, like, money randomly come up from the Internet, still a new phenomenon. So I think most creators don't really know quite what to do with it either. For sure.

10:33Alexis Texas And that's, I think, also the most important about, like, the literacy part is making your money make it... Like, money off itself instead of, you know, it's because sometimes we don't know what, you know, these creator spaces of how long that's going to last and Right. What that's going to do. And that's like the important part investing now in your brand, but in the life beyond

10:50Amouranth the brand. Definitely. And especially for girls, because we kinda have like what society views as an expiration date, you know? Mhmm. Like, where there's gonna be less people who are attracted to you over time, and if attraction is like the main brunt of your work, gotta invest your money because

11:04Alexis Texas I think that's a myth though. I feel like that is also... I feel like it's a misconception. I do believe it to a point, but I also feel like, look at all the markets and, like, things of everyone. Like, there's a golden bachelor now.

11:16Alexis Texas Like, there's other... There's a lane for everybody where there's things of, like, just because you get old doesn't mean you're not attractive. So it depends on where you want that, you know, it just to go or to, like, your legacy compares or, like, where you're going next. But I feel like I'm always like, hey. When people try to project it, oh, when you're getting older, your fans are out, I'm like, no.

11:33Alexis Texas They're still gonna let me. They're still gonna know if they booty back here is gonna shake. Maybe not as much and maybe not You want to shake more. But it's like, you know, at this point, I'm hoping that statue of the ass where they can just go appraise to the booty of

11:45Amouranth all my Yeah. AI. It doesn't matter what we look like anymore. AI is getting better.

11:50Alexis Texas You know? Better and better. I love it. I wanna know what is a misconception about streaming? We talked about the business.

11:59Alexis Texas We talked about how successful and, like, things growing up to, like, the boundaries you push, like, the doors that you've opened for other creators such as yourself. What is a misconception that you think is talked about most about streamers?

12:11Amouranth I think that it's easy to become a streamer. Yes. I think it's easy to press live, but I think it's hard to grow an audience. I think the job itself, if you describe it to somebody, sounds really easy. Yeah.

12:24Amouranth And it's really easy to do, but to be able to make a career out of it is the hard part.

12:28Alexis Texas Okay. That's fair. I feel like, again, even with the dedication of, like, somebody like a streamer for you, I feel like it's so much... Even though, like, I have on camera, you being a streamer, feel like it's more kinda almost evasive because you're streaming majority of your day. And it takes a lot of, like, that out of, like, what you're doing.

12:46Alexis Texas So you bring them along, which I feel like is the cool part because you kind of, like, go through life with your fans, who's ours, like, your streaming community. So I think, like, it's like, and people think, oh, it's just so easy. Just turn the camera on. Or it's no, like, you may have real life moments. You might have a bad day.

13:01Alexis Texas Like, you're human. There's all these things that everyone should kinda have to, like, not necessarily push it aside. And I don't know exactly if you show that to, you know, those things, but you're human. So it's like, think that that part is, I think, maybe the hardest part where I would be like, it's... That's why it's not easy because it's like you're giving a personal in.

13:18Amouranth Yeah. That's a big problem that streamers typically face is that the more they're live, the more risky it is to be canceled over something they said, taken out of context or had a bad day or whatever. How do you handle that?

13:28Alexis Texas Do you do you give the rawness or do you kind of hold back and be kind of a little bit more PC because of this cancel culture that

13:34Amouranth we live in these days? I figure I'm already not brand friendly, so I don't hold that.

13:38Alexis Texas Okay. Yeah. Oh, okay. You know, it's like, I know that you're... You're not from Texas, but you live in Texas.

13:44Alexis Texas Correct?

13:44Amouranth Both. Both? Okay. What part

13:46Alexis Texas of Texas? Houston. Okay. I was like, you have that Texas, like, drawback where it's like, we have the... We give a but we don't give a because it's like, take me as I am or Right.

13:56Amouranth Yeah. The thing. Exactly.

13:58Alexis Texas So how do you deal with burnout? Because being a creator, this sweet, so you're streaming constantly. You have this, like, kind of fan base to kind of like... I just... You're like, have to do it, but it becomes almost like, you have to do it.

14:11Alexis Texas Like your life when you're streaming.

14:12Amouranth How do you deal with burnout? I think burnout for people is often just like a bad perspective on the reality, at least in the social media space. Like, I understand the office space, but when people are like, able to just travel, like livestream and, like, do whatever they want, essentially, games or whatever, and they're like, oh, I'm so burnt out. It's like, they've forgotten what reality is like for most of the world who still has to go to a job they hate every day. It's like, you have the opportunity to do anything you want and get paid for it.

14:38Amouranth You're essentially getting paid time off every day. The fact that anyone would even utter, I'm burned out from that type of lifestyle is crazy to me. So I personally don't really have burnout. There are days where it's like, I don't feel good, I don't wanna be on camera, but I wouldn't call that burnout. I would just call that not feeling well.

14:54Alexis Texas Facts. So would you say that, you know, you're kind of... I feel like it's not a... And I get that what you're saying. I feel like is there...

15:02Alexis Texas How do you, in a sense, guess, you don't have a burnout. How do you stay grounded within the work that you do to continue to enjoy it like you do?

15:09Amouranth I think it's, again, just a perspective thing, knowing that there is an expiration date at some point, if not to, like, online in general, just how lucrative it is. Like, for instance, like, I have a cake deal right now. Right? And so, like, my time that I spend live streaming will not always be worth in, like, a dollar amount that it is when you have a contract.

15:28Alexis Texas Okay. Yeah. Nice. How do you handle relationships with fans? The fact that you're streaming all the time, have you ever had an interaction with fans that's kind of maybe crossed some lines because you do give so much?

15:41Amouranth Yeah. There's definitely some parasocials out there who think that they know you even though that they they don't at all. Right? They... I think some people forget that when they're watching a stream, the streamer can't see you.

15:52Amouranth It's not like a Skype call or something. Mhmm. So there's definitely some people that get too emotionally involved and think maybe they think they're gonna be in a relationship with you and, like, try to stalk you and stuff. Don't if you've had that problem too before just being

16:05Alexis Texas in For me, I definitely have the fans that have kind of either written extensive love letters, like, we're like, you know, relationships and have the, like, over and be jealous or overzealous type of relationships because they think you know you, especially with, you know, platforms that we give... That we have now that are so lucrative, it's a teetering light for our safety and what those things are, but it is also we are persona and it's not a twenty four seven thing. So I think people forget the reality and what those things play with. I think for myself, funny to say, like, I've never had... I've been fortunate not to have, like, stalkers or people that I've had friends in the industry that have.

16:44Alexis Texas My mom always tells me I have a really great resting bitch face, so I feel like people are kind of intimidated by it. They don't know if I'm gonna, like, cut them, if I'm gonna yell at them, if I'm gonna... Knows what I'm gonna do. So I feel like it goes either way. But I've also had people who've been the same personality that people still push the envelope, you know, for me, just...

17:00Alexis Texas They're scary. Maybe that's also why I'm single, who knows? But I don't know what that is. But fortunately, I haven't had that. But I also have had the people that do come up to me and cross the line, but in the in the act of it, I nip it in the bud because I feel like if you don't...

17:16Alexis Texas If you cater to it or you shy down and back down from what your boundary is, that that's kind of the scarier part because then they continue to do it until you say you feel uncomfortable or something, unfortunately, bad happens. And that's kind of where it's like, no. And then the flip side is if you do say it, then they're still gonna get mad, and then it's like, what

17:31Amouranth do you fucking

17:31Alexis Texas do? So, I always have... Make sure that I have, you know, security and a good team around me that really knows, like, my boundaries and what I am willing to give my fans because, you know, with my... In my situation is I've had cameras. So, people think that that means I'm gonna just have with everyone and that's not the case.

17:48Alexis Texas Right. And, you know, and I don't even do that anymore either. But, like, because at one point you've done something, they think like, oh, you're just gonna do it all the time kind of thing.

17:55Amouranth Yeah.

17:55Alexis Texas When you have that fan base. So, I think that, again, I'm big on communication. I'm big on, like, saying, like, what you want and what you don't want really. Wait, wait, wait. But it's like, sometimes you just don't know.

18:05Alexis Texas You can do all the right things. It still happens, unfortunately. So that's the scary part where I'm sure with yourself, you... You're letting people see where you're streaming and all the time, you know, instead of, like, it is in real time. Instead of, like, with me, I post after I leave.

18:18Alexis Texas You know, sometimes, obviously, I can do those things because of the safety aspect of it. So that's kind of like, how do you protect yourself in those ways?

18:26Amouranth Yeah. When I'm at big, like, conventions where they're meeting fans and they know that they're gonna... I'm gonna be there, I'll have security. I also have a lot of security around my house with guns, of course, the house. I take don't putt.

18:39Amouranth No. You know? We don't. We're very lucky to have...

18:41Alexis Texas We get shotguns. You got... Yeah. We're we're gonna stay right. You know, you have to.

18:44Alexis Texas I think, you know, like something... The gun thing is... You are very, you know, cliche. But if I say from the other, it's, you know, protect yourself.

18:51Amouranth Yeah. We have guard dogs as well. And we actually have police as our security guard at night too.

18:56Alexis Texas Okay. So... Is that because you had an incident happen? Mhmm. Yeah.

18:59Alexis Texas Can you talk about that? Or

19:01Amouranth Yeah. Well, the incident that I had happened to cause that one wasn't really necessarily a stalker thing, but still related, I guess, online, people getting information, doxing, and all that. I had a break in in March with three guys, and they held me at gunpoint. We're trying to get crypto. They said that's another crypto was.

19:19Amouranth So completely insane.

19:22Alexis Texas Is that something that you talk about that... The stream about crypto?

19:26Amouranth Yeah. We've we've talked about crypto before, but it's just like who keeps crypto under their bed or something.

19:31Alexis Texas Yeah. Like, don't even know how that works. I'm like...

19:34Amouranth Yeah. So definitely there has been some major things recently that made us increase security, but we've always had pretty, I guess, advanced security more than like a typical person too because of the fair social stock and behavior.

19:47Alexis Texas That's unfortunate. It's actually because it's like you... You're you're willing to give everybody everything. Right? You're putting it inside of your life where it's like, you know, where where does that line draw across?

19:55Alexis Texas It's like that you're just fortunately, you know, good in a space that you can afford to have the private security and that stuff because it's crazy. But, yeah, that's... I'm sorry that that happened to you. And that's a lot. That's a lot to deal with.

20:06Alexis Texas I'm sure it's still kind of scary to be in that situation because you just don't know.

20:10Amouranth Yeah. Definitely.

20:18Amouranth it to the good guys. The best fan. I think honestly I

20:26Amouranth I I think the the best fan interactions that are, like, the most fun for me, firstly, is, like, just I'm in a store shopping on stream or something, and girls come up, and they're like, oh my gosh. I love your streams. Like, love how much you love animals. I love your forestry. Those are my favorite.

20:42Amouranth Mhmm. Because I think that's just, like, such a breath of, like, pure refreshing I feel like her
